Flavonoids modify the reaction to other compounds such as allergens, viruses and carcinogens. They reduce inflammation by preventing the release of histamine, and fight free radicals, boost immunity, strengthen blood vessels and increase blood flow. Some are even more potent than vitamine C or E in preventing damage.
It is usually good to combine flavonoids with vitamine C to inhance their properties. The best way to ensure an adequate intake of flavonoids is to eat a diet
rich in fruits and vegatables.
