Massage is one technique that we use to help relieve stress and get a little time away.
We usually get a full body massage, but what about the head?
Learn how Indian head massage can help the entire body.

The Indian head massage has been practiced in the East for thousands of years.
Kids are taught the technique at an early age. Those who are practiced in it perform it on others and have others perform it on them frequently.

What is different about this massage? Well, it involves the head.
All of our sensations throughout the body may connect to nerves that originate from the spinal column,
but they all eventually reach the brain.
Taking care of the head can help to heal the rest of the body.

The Indian head massage can be done anywhere.
The participant stays clothed, but removes their shoes and any jewelry. It is best done while sitting in a chair.
While the massage centers on the head it also includes the neck, shoulders and possibly the upper arms.
The massage begins in these areas and moves up to the head.

Gentle massage therapy with minimal pressure helps to detoxify the body.
Toxins are moved out of the tissues and into the lymphatic system where they are filtered out of the body.
Ancient therapies often believe that illnesses are a result of a blockage in the flow of energy in the body.
Through massage, those blockages (knotted muscles and tense areas)
can be released, restoring balance to the body.

One major benefit of the massage is stress relief. Stress can cause all sorts of problems in the body. The body experiences a sense of calm, relaxation, increased oxygenation, renewed mental focus and less anxiety. Massaging the head stimulates endorphins to be released from the brain. Increasing mental health goes a long way to help solve other conditions in the body.

These changes can trickle down to the other areas of the body. An Indian head massage can improve muscle tone,
help heal TMJ (temporomandibular joint), reduce sinusitis and headaches,
and help with respiratory issues.

The main reason that Indian head massage is performed is to relieve stress and stimulate hair growth.
Massaging the scalp results in greater blood circulation to the area. Hair follicles are nourished and healthier hair grows.
No oil is used to massage the neck, shoulders and arms but in its native area, practitioners are known to use oils
on the scalp during the massage.

Are you stressed or feeling unbalanced in your body?
An Indian head massage works from the top to help relieve the body from mental and physical illnesses.
Gently massage increases circulation throughout the body and helps to get the energy flowing again.

Something easy and worthwhile to do with lots of information and videos available to explain how.
Have some fun try it on yourself and those you love.
