It is the latest acronym for gratitude, forgiveness, and
humor; practices that will extend your life and make it more
enjoyable in the process.
People who count their blessings are more adaptive, optimistic and experience a greater
sense of well-being. Because as you count your blessings you will find that you are blessed. Added benefit it actually improves the immune system. Simplest way to cultivate gratitude is a gratitude journal, every day write down a few things you are grateful for, and take a few seconds to feel that gratitude. As you go through this exercise you will start to find more and more things to be grateful for
as it trains your mind to be aware of what blessings surround you.
Forgiveness boosts the immune system, lowers high blood pressure,
reduces anxiety and depression, and improves sleep.
And once again forgiveness is a skill you can
train yourself in. Forgiveness is a form of self-healing; those toxic emotions
are harming you, draining your energy. Forgiveness will strengthen you and give
you freedom. Negative emotions don’t protect us, they harm us by releasing a
flood of stress hormones into our bodies. Learning to forgive takes patients and
practice. And it is always easier to forgive if you can understand or empathize with the
person you need to forgive, but if you can’t maybe just blessing them and
letting them go, allowing yourself to move forward unencumbered.
Humor awakens brain cells, releases endorphins, eases muscle tension, and suppresses the release of cortisol. It boosts immunity, increases heart rate, and helps us
breathe more deeply. Humor is an important attitude for strengthening our
well-being. Surround yourself with laughter. Smile and laugh for no reason,
spend time with people who make you chuckle,
let humor take you away like a little mini vacation.
