You may not realize it, but staying in the present is one of the best things you can do for your health.
It's easy to reminisce and think of how good things
were in the past, or well into the future to imagine how things will be going forward.
The present though,
is where the healing lies.
It's quite simple, yet many people are so used to
thinking in the past or future that they have a
hard time staying focused on the here and now.
There are ways, however, do develop the habit and learn to
live in the current moment.
Here you will find reasons why staying with the present moment can
benefit your life.
Food Is More Amazing
When you are busy and eating at the same time, you likely barely notice what you are eating. You might be typing at the computer and scarfing down a meal, or even a sugary snack. Chances are, you won't even remember what you ate a few minutes after. Not only that, you won't fully process feelings of being full and satisfied.
Often, this leads to overeating and not enjoying your meal.
If you can train yourself to stay present, and think about each bite you take, your experience will be completely different.
Think about how the food tastes in your mouth.
Focus on how is smells, whether it is crunchy, sour, sweet, or any other
details that you notice.
You will be eating at a slower pace when you do this. Because of your
focus on the present, you will have made a memory of this meal, and it
will be easy to
recall the nice dish you had.
You will also give your body a chance to register it's fullness in your brain.
When you go through this process, you will enjoy your food more and eat less of it.
You Can Control Bad Habits
If there is something that you do that you wish you didn't, try putting all of your focus on it the next time it happens. Just the act of putting your attention directly on the problem will help you work out better ways of dealing with it.
You Become More Observant
When you stop thinking about the past, or the future, you can really focus in on what is happening here and now. That means you will miss less verbal and non-verbal cues in every situation.
You Have the Power to Change
You really only have control over what is happening now, in this moment.
You cannot change the past and you can't observe the future. Instead,
if you have a goal for the future,
use the present moment to its fullest and over time, you may just realize your goal.
Likewise, anything that has already happened will stay that way, but you
can make changes going forward
and that can only happen now, in the present.
Make the most of the present and take control of your well-being.
You need to be present to truly know the condition of your health,
ansd then to create your wellness path.
Because your most powerful moment is the present moment!
Play moment for being present
Take an everyday activity
give it your total attention and care,
enjoy the experience and simplictity of it.
Don't get so caught up in doing that you forget being and enjoying.
Test and see how being present effects your health.
